Holiday Cheer and a December Update
Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations
The year is almost over! The year is almost over? The year is almost over…
It is that time of year again, lots of shopping for presents and eating until you fall asleep on the couch and wake up just in time for dessert. Not speaking from personal experience, of course, definitely did not happen to me 😉 Since I don’t have anything lined up for this week, it felt like a good time as any to give another update for the blog.
Looking Towards the Future
Every year the gap between when this project started and the current day gets bigger and bigger. By this time next year, Animated Observations will have existed in some form or fashion for eight years. When starting this project back in high school after getting assigned to design the school newspaper’s website, I really did not think it would last this long. It feels like I bring this up at least once a year anyway, but entering adulthood has left time moving faster and faster in a way that only age can really explain. Hard to say if or when this journey will end, but for now, it’ll keep on chugging along.
Goodbye Twitter, Hello Bluesky?
Not exactly newsworthy, but felt worth mentioning briefly since it was kind of sudden. However, as of writing this post, my personal twitter as well as the account for Animated Observations has been deleted. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that, for as much as I want this blog to spread and reach people, I personally would like to stay off social media more often. As I talked about above, time feels like its speeding up and because of that, it feels more and more wasted on endlessly scrolling for content that has no meaning.
The second involves the rapid devolution in the quality of Twitter itself, thanks in large to the acquisition of said site by Elon Musk. Not only is the site itself way more conservative and bot-filled, it also just didn’t function as well because Elon decided to fire most of its staff. As far as Bluesky goes, I do now have an account on the site, but will primarily be using them for sharing my work on here. So, if you’re on the site and want to follow us there, then feel free.
What’s Coming Next
The next week for me is likely going to be pretty busy, as I work followed by Yama-con in Pigeon Forge, so hopefully there will be some cool stuff coming out of that. As far as the stuff I’m watching/reading, uh…
- Arcane (eventually)
- Welcome Back, Alice (volume six has been out since earlier this year but just haven’t gotten around to it yet)
- Look Back (maybe the manga and the movie, but likely just the movie)
- Could be fun to revisit Tokyo Godfathers, but kinda depends on time
- Probably some more games from my steam library pile.
As always, this is not a definitive list and is subject to wherever the dopamine leads me.
What are your December plans, blog-related or otherwise? Let me know in the comments.
Thank you all so much for stopping by. For those who want to read a bit more, feel free to click back up top. Anyone who’s feeling generous or who would like to read some original poetry/short fiction from yours truly, look no further than directly below.
As always, special thanks to these lovely people for their support:
If you can’t, or just don’t feel like it, no worries. Thank you all again for reading, and goodbye, for now, friends!
